WEDNESDAY FRIENDSDAY

Wednesday 4pm-6pm

Our Expressive Arts Program is composed of a music, art, and media component.

The music component of our Wednesday program features music appreciation and performance. Members are given the opportunity to share their love of music by performing and teaching one another. Musical experience is not required and everyone is welcome. Every year, during the holidays, members are given the opportunity to sing carols at John Muir hospital. In the fall, members participate in preparing and presenting an educational performance at our annual fundraising event.

The media component features self-expression through storytelling, filmmaking, claymation, animation, photography and so much more. In order to build and practice multimedia skills, members are invited to participate in a variety of projects, many of which combine media and art together.

The visual arts component of the Expressive Arts Program gives members a chance to express themselves through 2-D and 3-D art projects. Supplies are provided by the Clubhouse, and through donations. All the members need to bring is their own creative initiative. Projects can range from jewelry making, painting, sketching, collages, clay, and so much more. Once a month, we have a creative writing group that focuses on poetry, fiction, and many other topics that interest the membership.

Throughout all of these activities, friendships are formed and everyone has a great time.

Each Friday night members enjoy a “Thank Goodness It’s Friday” social time with food, games, karaoke, dancing, movies, and more during a safe, substance-free evening of fun.

TGIF

Weekend programming balances out a member’s participation at the Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is open at least one weekend day per month, often for outdoor outings such as hiking, basketball, and other fitness activities. Monthly, a young adult outing is held geared specifically for younger adult members to help them build relationships and a stronger sense of community within the Clubhouse.
